Hey! Hey! Hey!

Recently while visiting our dear friends, Auntie Shel, Grace and Emma, Mad Molly and Gleeful Grace were bouncing happily on a trampoline while the mommies caught up on small talk. All of a sudden I hear in the background a very enthusastic Mad Molly call of "Hey!" and the converstation went like this
Mad Molly: "Hey! .....Hey, Mommy!....Hey! Hey, Mommy!"
Mad Mommy: "yes, Molly"
Mad Molly: "I did a good job, I said excuse me Grace and I didn't even say Hey!"

the irony of it all was just too much not to laugh and say  "yes Molly, you did a great job not saying HEY!"

Father Al would be so proud!

As we all know, Mad Molly is a big fan of going to church but clearly she thinks more about it then I ever imagined.  This afternoon while playing she pipes up with an exuberant shout "I've got a good idea", jumps to her feet grabs a handful of memory cards from the memory game that was played earlier and quickly leaves the room. I hear a kitchen cabinet open, the rustling of pots and other random kitchen gadgets and a resounding "I've got it" a few minutes later Mad Molly comes back in the living room and hands out memory cards to each of us and says,  "Here's your money, don't lose it OK!. When the man comes give it to the basket." Now, knowing my child's fascination with mass and all things related to church,  I don't really know why I was confused as to where she was going with this but it all quickly became clear when she once again left the living room only to return with my small handled strainer filled with other "money pieces" asking for us to put our money in the basket. It gave me a good chuckle which turned into a side splitting laugh when after depositing my "money" in the basket she says "Thanks for Jesus, God would be proud!"
Clearly she wants to devote her life to service for the Lord!

Back to St. Joe's we go!

So as many of you know, St. Joseph's Parish is the source of many a blog entry from Mad Molly and this week is of no exception! At our church on Sunday they were doing a special mass to bless all the children who had been baptized in the parish during the past year, and our very own Roaming Gnome would be one of those special children! Now due to his napping schedule wild man Will (a.ka. Roaming Gnome) usually does not attend service on Sundays so we thought this was as good a time as any for him to make his debute for the first time in many moons. Sunday rolls around and off the we go to good old St. Joe's. Mad Molly was super excited that the entire family was in church and that it was filled with many other children, so needless to say she was indeed very fidgety! Her view of the alter, which usually keeps her pretty entertained and mildly interested was obstructed which left her to entertain herself.  During the sermon, she kept climbing on my lap asking me all sorts of questions...the conversation went like this:
Mad Molly: "Momma, what are you doing?"
Mad Mommy: "Listening to Father Al" (calmly)
Mad Molly: "oh"..."Momma, what are you doing?"
Mad Mommy: "LIstening to Father Al!" (in a firm whisper I could muster)
Mad Molly: "oh"..pause, pause...."Momma, what are you doing?"
Mad Mommy: "LISTENing to Father Al!!!" (in the strongest whisper I could muster)
Mad Molly: "oh"....pause, pause, pause, fidget, fidget..."Momma, what are you doing?"
Mad Mommy: "LISTENING to Father AL!!!!!!, now sit still" (threw gritted teeth in a strong whisper)
Mad Molly: "Oh" looking around the pew, poking the roaming gnome, starting to reach over the pew behind her
Mad Mommy: "MOLLY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" (in the firm, yet quiet strong mom voice)
Mad Molly: "listening to GOD!" (calm as can be)

God help me now!

Happy New Year!

As you may know, it's been a while since I've had a chance to post, not for lack of blog worthy content I assure you but for sheer lack of a free moment. The past few months have been a blur of bizarre sicknesses, birthdays, holidays, anniversary and of course the joyful mayhem that was Christmas! Now that the new year has begun I am recommitting myself to keeping you all informed of our latest antics of Mad Molly and her trusty sidekick! And now that Wild Man Will has joined the ranks of those of us that walk he has come to be known as the Roaming Gnome...see picture below for pictorial explanation! He's still as wild as ever but he has taken to Roaming around the house in circles, going no where in particular, just roaming because, well because he just plain can! Over the next few days I will search back through the past few months and catch you up. I hope you all have a Happy and Entertaining New Year!

Halloween, Oh Halloween

So recently the topic of Halloween came up with Mad Molly, who completely remembers dressing up as a bee for Halloween last year. (her recall skills are outstanding, much to my dismay). Anyway, Mad Molly briefly decides she wants to be Ming Ming Duck (her favorite character from her new top show Wonder Pets) Ming Ming for you who don't know is a 3 year old duck who wears a flying bomber hat and goggles), thankfully this request was short lived and she moved on to and has pretty much stuck with wanting to be a Butterfly! Until now.... the other day I started making a Halloween costume for my goddaughters Grace and Emma who are going to be adorable Candy Corn Witches. Mad Molly asks me what I'm doing and I tell her I'm making a Halloween costume for Grace, to which she says, I want one ... puzzled I ask her you want to be a witch like Grace? and our conversation went like this
Mad Mommy: You want to be a Witch like Grace
Mad Molly : Yup, you make me one like Grace
Mad Mommy: Ok, I'll make you a witch costume for Halloween
Mad Molly: Nope a butterfly
Mad Mommy: You want me to make you a butterfly costume
Mad Molly: Yup, just like Grace you make me one
Mad Mommy: Oh, you want mommy to make you a butterfly Costume
Mad Molly: No, you make me just like Grace
Mad Mommy: So you want to be a witch
Mad Molly: No a butterfly
Mad Mommy: you want to be a butterfly
Mad Molly: No like Grace
Mad Mommy: ?????????

if anyone can figure out a way out of this loop, please let me know because our Halloween debate (which by the way she thinks "Halloween" is a person) continues and I have no idea what she will actually be for Halloween!

Why do I ask why???

This evening before getting ready for bed Mad Molly was strangely quiet and absent from the living room where she had previously been playing with Wild Man Will. Mad Mommy went looking for her and found her in the kitchen sitting on the floor, with her sock off, pulling her toes apart scratching in between her toes. The conversation went like this:
Mad Mommy: What are you doing sweetpea?
Mad Molly: I'm getting it out ...(what that "it" is, your guess is as good as mine but I continue anyway)
Mad Mommy: Why are you doing that?
Mad Molly: So I get the dirt and keep them
Mad Mommy: You are getting the dirt out of your toes and going to keep it????
Mad Molly: Yyyyeeessss I am!
Mad Mommy: Okay then!

(on a side note: she got out of the bath about a half hour before this so what dirt she is collecting from her toes is beyond me, but now that I think about it since there was no dirt this activity of looking for dirt could have occupied her for hours...darn it all I blew that one!!)

FYI

At dinner tonight, Mad Molly (dressed in an adorable red dress) proudly announces "I'm no wearing pants, pullups, panties, or nothing!" Mad Mommy "you're not wearing any panties" Mad Molly "Nope, nothing!" Mad Mommy "Thanks for sharing" and we all eat dinner!
